A collection of real-life stories by one of my absolute favourite funny women? Yes, please! I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my free time.
I really enjoyed this collection of stories, many of which I’d never heard Dawn tell before, despite being quite a big fan. Each tale, twatish as promised, is as funny as the last and, in many cases, endearing. The perfect mix of absurdity, reality, and hilarity, I just couldn’t put the book down, finishing it in just two reading sessions.
As Dawn mentions in the book, it’s nice to read about moments that are less than perfect. It’s not often you hear someone in the public eye be honest about themselves, share those qualities which make them human. Hearing not only about Dawn’s great moments but also her cock-ups makes her, in my opinion, a much more rounded person. My admiration for her has only grown over the stretch of the book.
She’s right. Who is perfect?
My only complaint is, if I’m being cheeky, that the book wasn’t long enough. I’m sure Dawn has many more stories to share.
The Twat Files are a fun read which I’d recommend to anybody who loves Dawn French and comedy in general.
Or to anybody who is just a massive twat!
