The First to Die at the End By Adam Silvera

Rating: 5 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐

Orion is a young man with an axe hanging over his head. His heart could forsake him at any moment, and while attempting to live to his fullest, he meets Valentino. Valentino is a newcomer to New York, looking to live his best life, to make his dream of modelling come true, when a phone call tells him that his time is numbered. That’s just how life is when Death Cast exits, the service that will tell you the day you are to die.

Orion wants to give him the best end-day he can; he knows what it is like to be scared that today may be your last. He will be the boy’s personal tour guide!

This novel is about living life to the fullest and being yourself while doing it. The LGBTQPlus themes are great, but the book is so much more than a book about sexuality. It’s a book that anyone, no matter of sexuality, can relate to. It’s about death, fear, and embracing life because it won’t last forever. What would you do if the day were your last?

This book has been one of my favourites I have read this year, my second five-star read. It made me laugh and cry. I just can’t shake it off, the last few chapters lingering over me like death lingers over Orion.
